From Palermo you can take several day trips. Of course if you have a car you can do more if you don't have a car you can do less.

Cefalù is a very nice medieval village next to the sea. It takes 50 minutes by train and from Giorgio's House B&B Palermo it takes 15 minutes by foot to get the central train station. There are several trains so, it's easy to get Cefalù. When you get Cefalù, you'll have a very nice day. A very nice beach and a very nice village. You cannot miss the Duomo and if you like to hike a little bit, you can go up to La Rocca to see the ruins of the Temple of Diana and of the Castle. In Cefalù you'll find a lot of Bars, Restaurants and also souvenir shops. You cannot miss it!

Agrigento : Another beautiful day trip from Palermo. It takes a little bit longer. 2 hours by train but you'll be able to watch a beautiful landscape. When you get Agrigento you can walk 20 minutes and get the Valle dei Templi or you can take the bus.
Agrigento itself is not so beautiful but the Valle dei Templi is great and you cannot miss it. Around Agrigento there are several beautiful beaches as well.

Erice: Erice is the hill next to Trapani.. I love it. It's a small medieval village non the top of the hill. The atmosphere of this little town is evocative. Everything looks like 600 years ago. It's wonderful (my opinion) with the fog...something mystic. Erice is also famous for the cakes and for being a Science heritage.
In August is very crowded. There is a micro clima over there so take always a jacket with you....even on Summer.
